Paloma Lancaster, 87, of Rock Rapids died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids.

Services were Friday at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Paloma Kerner was born July 1, 1916, in Larchwood, the daughter of William and Minnie (Johnson) Kerner. She grew up and attended school in Lyon County, graduating from Rock Rapids High School.

On July 4, 1942, she married Paul Lancaster. He died in August 1960.

She worked as a clerk for National Cash Register and as a hot lunch cook at Central Lyon High School. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Kooiker Chevrolet (now Vander Lee Motors) in Rock Rapids, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include one son, Gregory of Lake Oswego, Ore., and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Charles; one brother, Warren, and two sisters, Margaret Meiberg and Evelyn Frink.
