January 21, 1932 - September 7, 2014

Kenneth Roti, 82, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Hudson, South Dakota, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Hudson Lutheran Church in Hudson with Rev. Lori Marty officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery. Visitation, with family present, will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Hudson Lutheran Church.

Ken was born January 21, 1932 at Fairview, South Dakota, son of Oliver and Borghild (Hanson) Roti. Ken attended Eastview Country School and graduated Hudson High School in 1950. Ken served in the U.S. Army 1952-1955 stationed in Germany.

He married Lois Paulson on March 24, 1961 at Luverne, Minnesota. Together they farmed near Inwood, Iowa, and beginning in 1964 near Hudson and Alcester. They moved into Hudson in 1988 and Ken drove school bus, worked at the Hudson Meat Locker, Schoeneman Brothers Lumber at Hawarden, drove for Harold’s Delivery; and was a member and past commander of Bergstrom-Bodeen American Legion. In retirement he was a senior companion.

Lois died November 19, 1993. Ken lived in Sioux Falls and recently moved back to Hudson Care and Rehab Center. He was a social butterfly, always had a good story to tell; enjoyed refinishing furniture, crossword puzzles, and cards.

Ken is survived by his son Kendal (Deb) Roti of Sioux Falls, and their children, Kellen Roti and Sara (Zac) Roti-Couture; daughter, Juli (Dave) Van Engen of Alcester, South Dakota, and children, Craig (Erin) Van Engen, Katie (Mike) McMillan, Jason Van Engen, Kristin (Matt) Merrick; five great-grandchildren, Oliver Couture, Ella and Will Van Engen, Maddie and Connor McMillan; brother, Ray (Kyle) Roti of Sioux Falls; sisters, Delores (Mahlon) Johnson of Alcester, South Dakota, Shirley (Donald) Horner of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; son, Richard Roti; and his parents, Oliver and Borghild.
