Norma Jane was born August 11, 1924 at Inwood, Iowa, the daughter of Helmer and Johanne (Severtson) Moen. She graduated Inwood High School in 1942 and attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa for one quarter and then worked as a riveter on airplanes at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, California. She later worked at Friden Calculating in San Leandro as an inspector on the production line during World War II.

Jane married Marlo Hanson on July 27, 1946. While living in California, their first child was born, Paul. In 1948 they moved to Inwood to farm and two more children were born, Debra and Jack. They lived in Des Moines one year before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1957, and added another child to the family, Barbara. In 1966 they moved to Alton, Iowa, and Jane worked at Dutch Oven Bakery in Orange City and then to Rock Rapids where Jane worked at Rowe's Department Store.

They again lived in Alton and Jane worked at the Village Drugstore until moving to Missouri Valley, Iowa, where she worked at Naomi's Hallmark in Council Bluffs before moving to Inwood in 1988. Jane was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City and at Inwood was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church participating in WELCA (Women of the ELCA) and Love Circle, and sang in the church choir. She was totally dedicated to her husband and family who were second only to God who she walked with every moment of her life.

She could cook and bake anything, adding the most important ingredient, love, and it was always the best. Jane loved music, taught herself to play piano and loved to sing. She always attended concerts and activities that her children and grandchildren were in and was very proud of all of them.

Jane is survived by her husband of 67 years, Marlo; children, Paul (Jolayne) Hanson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Deb (Dave) Atkinson of Dayton, Maine, Jack (Felicia) Hanson of Luverne, Minnesota, and Barb (Mark) Johnson of Inwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Connie (Eric) Hullstrom of Jackson, Minnesota, Mary (Matthew) James of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Todd (Stephanie) Hanson of New Brighton, Minnesota, Andrew Hanson, Anissa Hanson, and Ashley Hanson all of Luverne, Chris Johnson, Missy Woldt, and Jennifer Johnson all of Sioux Falls; great-grandchildren, Michael and Megan James, Reegan Gabrielson, Connor Woldt, and Mayah Hullstrom; and sister, June (Don) Katt of Alton, Iowa.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Helmer and Johanne Moen; brothers, Herman (Dorothy) Moen, Henry (Marguerite) Moen; sisters, Angeline (Harland) Hanson, Charlotte (Don) Anderson; Mary (Milton) Anderson; and great-grandson, Tucker Woldt.
