Marcella was born June 5, 1914 at Rock Rapids, Iowa, daughter of F.J. "Jude" and Emma Johnson Hansen. She attended country school and graduated from Lester, Iowa, High School. She worked at the general store in Lester until her marriage to John Newborg on March 16, 1942. They spent 42 wonderful years together and had one son, Douglas. They farmed on the Newborg homestead near Alvord until moving to Sioux Falls in 1982 to be closer to their son and his family. John died June 3, 1984. She is lovingly survived by her son Douglas (Darla) Newborg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren: Deanne Newborg of St. Paul, Minnesota, Darren (Jamie) Newborg of Tea, South Dakota, and David Newborg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three great-grandchildren: Kolby, Keeton, and Kendall of Tea; a sister, Nadine Vanden Brink of Rock Rapids, Iowa; nieces, nephews and many friends.
