Mildred Brower, 83, of Rock Rapids died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services were Monday at Congregational United Church of Christ, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Mildred Eder was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Rock Rapids, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Blum) Eder. She attended school in Rock Rapids and graduated in 1938. She attended Grand Island School of Business in Grand Island, Neb. She then became a secretary to the superintendent of Rock Rapids schools.

On Feb. 18, 1942, she married Delco Brower at Sioux City. They farmed in the Rock Rapids area.

She worked for the Selective Service System several years and later as head cook at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She had been a resident of Lyon Manor the past six months.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis of Anthem, Ariz., and Steve of Elkader; two daughters, Karol Hanson of Carthage, Ill., and Mrs. Paul (Jan) Wilson of Flagler Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Leona Brower.
