Herman Koerselman, 96, of Sheldon, formerly of George, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Northwest Iowa Health Center.

Services were Saturday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Koerselman was born July 23, 1907, near Boyden, the son of Ben and Jennie (MVander Maten) Koerselman. He grew up and attended school near Matlock. He owned and operated Koerselman Brothers Trucking Firm from 1931-1951.

On June 6, 1934, he married Lillian Landhuis in Boyden. They lived in George. He was a Watkins dealer from 1952-1970. He developed and owned George Mobile Home Court. In 2001, they moved to Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon.

At Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, he was an elder and Sunday School superintendent and was treasurer 10 years. He served on the George City Council, George School Board and helped found and develop Otter Valley Country Club.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bernard of Surprise, Ariz., Herbert of Louisville, Ky., Les of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Vern of Madelia, Minn.; four daughters, Joyce Oatey of Sheldon, Mrs. Les (Mary) Roberts of Brainerd, Minn., Mrs. Cliff (Linda) Slykhuis of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Jim (Nancy) Zattler of Weare, N.H.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lucy Eberlien of Minnetonka, Minn., and Mrs. Harold (Johanna) Kruse of George.
