Obituary:

Alvord, Iowa - Laura Sullivan Berg, 53, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Avera Heart Hospital. A funeral service will be at 11 am Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley with Father Doug Klein celebrating. Burial will follow the luncheon at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alvord.

Visitation with family present will be 6-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley, Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Laura was born May 28, 1960 at LeMars, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Phyllis (Frembgen) Sullivan. Laura grew up near Alvord and graduated West Lyon High School and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Metro State University.

She married Darman Berg in 1979 at Alvord. Laura lived at Crystal, Minnesota, and had worked at Honeywell and later as a medical secretary at Courage Center at Golden Valley, Minnesota. She enjoyed many things including flea markets; cooking; drawing and painting; gardening; seeing the sights; giving of her time in volunteering; listening to Sarah sing; and time with her dog Penny.

Surviving family include her parents, Bob and Phyllis of Alvord, Iowa; daughters, Jamie and fiance Shane Foster of Champlin, Minnesota, and Sarah and special friend David Vosika of Plymouth, Minnesota; brothers, Tom (Kimberly) Sullivan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, James (Ann) Sullivan of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and sister, Susan (David) Berg of Vermillion, South Dakota.

Laura was preceded in death by a brother, John Sullivan.
