Lorraine Katherine Stueven was born September 4, 1924 in Hull, Iowa, to Frederick and Elizabeth (Stegemann) Woelber. She went to the Sheldon Community College in the summer of 1943 to become a teacher. Lorraine taught at 3 rural schools in Lyon County, Iowa, until she got married. On February 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Arthur Stueven at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm near George, Iowa, and lived there together their entire married lives. Lorraine lost her husband of 61 years on September 17, 2009.

Lorraine was baptized on October 5, 1924 and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. She taught kindergarteners in Sunday school for several years and belonged to the Altar Guild and Dorcas Society. Lorraine spent many hours canvassing for the American Heart Association and enjoyed doing numerous activities as a member of the Friends and Neighbors Club.
