Luella "Lu" Jennie Kruse

(April 16, 1923 - May 29, 2013)

George, Iowa - Luella “Lu” Kruse, age 90 of George, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in George.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Anderson and Pastor Oryn Meinerts officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, Iowa.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 2nd from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George.

Luella Jennie (Mulder) Kruse was born on April 16, 1923 in Little Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Dick and Sena (Brands) Mulder. She grew up on a farm near Little Rock and Ellsworth area. She received her education at the Elgin #3 country school. On March 8, 1944, Lu was united in marriage to Harm Kruse at the home of Harm and Edith Johnson near George, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Daryl, Steve and Wanda. The couple lived most of their married life on a farm south of Little Rock.

Her husband Harm passed away on December 2, 1963, after nineteen years of marriage. Lu continued to live on the farm until 1985, when she moved to George. Lu was a homemaker and loved helping out on the farm with milking cows, walking beans and making meals to bring out to the field. After Harm passed away at such a young age, she was left to provide and raise her family. During that time she cleaned houses and worked for K-Products in Orange City, Iowa, for a short time. Lu was saved in 1945 and baptized a few weeks later.

In her younger years she played piano in church, for youth groups, Bible school and at the Mission. She liked helping with crafts for Bible school, making decorations for banquets and bulletin boards for church. Lu was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George. She enjoyed writing letters and spending time with her family. She loved the outdoors, campfires, and sewing. She was an all-around fun loving person and always put others before herself.

Grateful for having shared her life, Daryl (Gloria) Kruse, Steve (Bonnie) Kruse and Wanda (Ron) Bechler all of George, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Shellie (Tom) Ver Steeg of Little Rock, Iowa, Sheryl (Brian) Schneekloth of Little Rock, Iowa, Jeff (Laura) Kruse of Little Rock, Iowa, Jackie (Jeremy) Stueven of George, Iowa, Brandon Kruse of George, Iowa, Shannon (Matt) Van Meeteren of Sheldon, Iowa, Sonja (Reid) Kooiker of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Chad (Kaeleigh) Bechler of George, Iowa; twenty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Kruse of Sibley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Sena Mulder; husband, Harm Kruse; brother, John Mulder; sister-in-law, Vera Mulder; and brother-in-law, George Kruse.
