Iona Krull

(August 27, 1920 - April 23, 2013)

George, Iowa -- Iona Krull, age 92 of George, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society at George.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26th at Hope Reformed Church at George, with Rev. Al Honken and Rev. David Poppen officiating. Burial will follow in the Hope Reformed Cemetery at George. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

Iona Krull was born on August 27, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Abbie (Sprock) Krull. Iona attended Liberal country school thru 8th grade. Iona lived with her family and helped with the daily operations of the farm. She remained at home and cared for her parents until their death. She then moved to an acreage by Edna, with her brother Fred. Iona took CNA classes and started working for the George Good Samaritan Center, where she worked for 27 years. Iona entered the Good Samaritan Center as a resident in 2008 where she passed away on April 23, 2013 at the age of 92 years 7 months and 27 days.

Iona was a lifelong member of the Hope Reformed Church where she spent many years teaching Sunday School for the 3 year old class. She was also a member of the Esther Circle. Iona enjoyed gardening, flowers, and her pear trees. She also did crocheting and sewing. Her family fondly remembers Iona for her homemade bread, hot chocolate made with cow’s milk, and her sweet treats. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Iona leaves to cherish her memory, sisters-in-law, Evelyn Olson of Rock Rapids, Henrietta Krull of George, who has been by Iona’s side for a lifetime, and 29 nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Weert Krull, Henry Krull, Fred Krull, Alvin Krull, Ivan Krull, and Harold Krull; sisters, Grace Klaahsen, Sena Krull, Caroline Gruis, Frances Groen, Betty Gronewold, and several nieces and nephews.
