Rock Rapids, Iowa - Marlene Anderson, age 76, of Rock Rapids, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 at her residence in Rock Rapids.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 16th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Marlene Carol Anderson was born November 28, 1936 in Edna, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Ella (Wiese) Johnson. As a child she moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa, and she attended Rock Rapids Community. At age 14 Marlene started working at various restaurants in Rock Rapids. She graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1956.
On December 28, 1957 Marlene was united in marriage to Milton Anderson at her in-laws farm near George, Iowa. They lived in Rock Rapids while Marlene continued working for area restaurants as a waitress and eventually as a cook. On December 16, 1990 Marlene’s husband Milton Anderson died suddenly, after 32 years of marriage. Marlene continued as a cook at many different establishments and eventually retired from Premier Estates. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. She enjoyed knitting, puzzles and playing cards with friends.
This past Monday, March 11, 2013 Marlene died unexpectedly at her residence in Rock Rapids at the age 76.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Anderson of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Glenn (Shelly) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights, MN; three grandsons, Josh (Stacey) Anderson of Olathe, KS, Seth Anderson of San Diego, CA and Connor Anderson of Inver Grove Heights, MN; two sisters, Donna (Harlan)Maurer of Larchwood, Iowa and Rhoda (Don) Stettnichs of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Ella Johnson; and husband Milton Anderson.
