Obituary--

Inwood, Iowa - Elvera Serck, age 99, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, February 18, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Visitation with family present will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com .

Elvera was born February 20, 1913 on a farm near Doon, Iowa, daughter of Soren and Margaretha (Beckman) Pedersen. She married Emil Matthew Serck on June 19, 1935 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Together they farmed in Sioux County and later Lyon County, Iowa until retirement in 1967. They moved into Inwood in 1972. Emil died April 18, 2003.

Elvera moved to Fellowship Village on January 2, 2007. Elvera enjoyed the company of her family and looked forward to get-togethers such as reunions, birthdays, anniversaries and the like.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Dolores (Fred) Elbert of Hills, Minnesota; son, Glenn (Hennie) Serck of Inwood; sister, Helen Velma Koppien of Bethany Nursing Home, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren: Cheryl (Dennis) Shelton, Gail (Fred) Eulberg, Tami (Brian) Sonne, Denise Fuller, Joel (Andreanna) Elbert, Tim Elbert, Matthew (Heather) Serck, Melanie (Mark) Zuraff, and Michael (Margaret Ann) Serck; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, Soren "Sam" and Margaretha "Mary" Pedersen; husband, Emil Matthew Serck; brothers, Howard and Kenneth Pedersen; sisters, Anna Marie Vanden Berg, Emma Elvina Pedersen, Henrietta Louise Knutson, Lorena Luella Kahl, and Esther Mae Dirks.
