Gilbert Elbers – January 11, 1924 – May 16, 2007

Gilbert "Bud" Elbers, a resident of Little Falls, formerly of the Morrill area, died May 16, 2007, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Pastor Dale Boening officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Bud was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Lester, Iowa, to the late Gilbert and Gertie Elbers. Bud served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Ellgen Sept. 10, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Bud and Jean farmed in Southern Minnesota for eight years, then moved to California where Bud worked as a carpenter for eight and a half years. In 1970 Bud and his family moved back to Minnesota, where they farmed in the Morrill area until they moved to Little Falls in 2006. Bud enjoyed his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren Laurie, Ronnie, David, Jennifer, Julie, and Gena. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Bud is survived by his wife Jeanette Elbers of Little Falls; sons Dean Elbers and wife Linda of New Brighton, Steven Elbers and wife Colleen of Inyokern, Calif., and Rande Elbers of St. Louis Park; daughter, Jill Berg and husband Richard of Little Falls; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Gilbert Elbers; sisters Johanna Romberg, Hermina Schriver and Bernadine Elbers; and grandson Casey Elbers.
