Kenneth De Noble

October 12, 1915 - May 11, 2008

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Kenneth De Noble, age 92 of Rock Rapids, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Rock Rapids.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 14th at Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dan Haggar & Rev. Katie Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13th from 2 – 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 – 8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

Cornelius “Kenneth” De Noble was born October 12, 1915 at Hull, Iowa, the son of Cornelius and Alida (Van der Voort) De Noble. At age three Kenneth and his family moved to a farm near Orange City, Iowa. Sometime in the early 1920’s he moved with his family to a farm east of Steen, Minnesota. His childhood years were spent in the Steen area, and it was in the country schools that he received his early education. He attended the Steen Reformed Church. In 1934, at the age of 19, he moved with his parents and a brother, Neal, to a farm east of Beaver Creek, Minnesota. In 1936, the family moved to a farm east of Lester, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Jeanette Van Goor, on February 1, 1940. In 1943, they moved to a farm southeast of Rock Rapids. They were members of the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. In 1955, they purchased a farm southwest of George, Iowa, and were member of the Hope Reformed Church. In 1977, they built their home on Tama Street in Rock Rapids and later became members of the First Reformed Church. Kenneth enjoyed his many years of farming and doing yard work. He also took many joy rides with family and friends driving the country side.

In December of 2005, Kenneth began kidney dialysis treatments. On November 18, 2006 Kenneth joined his wife and became a resident at Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids.

On August 31, 2007 Kenneth’s wife of 67 years, Jeanette died at the age of 86. On Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2008, Kenneth died at the Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Rock Rapids at the age of 92.

Kenneth is survived by four children, Carolyn (husband Gayle) Wagenaar of Rushmore, Minnesota, Janice (husband Gary) De Boer of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Sandra (husband Allen) Freerks of Plainfield, Iowa and Conrad (wife Audrey) De Noble of Rock Rapids, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Henrietta De Noble of Hills, Minnesota, Alvina (husband Filbert) Krull of Enumclaw, Wash., Eldora (husband John) Krull of Rock Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Alida De Noble; his wife, Jeanette De Noble; two brothers, John De Noble and Neal De Noble; three sisters, Tina De Noble, Margaret Rozeboom and Nellie Jongerius.
