FUNERAL OF ROCK RAPIDS
SOLDIER BOY HELD

ROCK RAPIDS, IOWA, June 27, 1918 — The funeral of Lieut Eugene Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson, of Rock Rapids, Is to be held here today. Rev. A. H. Bryan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, will conduct the services.

Lieutenant Anderson died at the base hospital at Camp Kearney, Linda Vista, California, near San Diego, on June 15, 1918, following an operation for appendicitis.

He was born In Rock Rapids in 1896 and until 1913 all his life was spent here, and he is the first Rock Rapids boy to give up his life for his country. The local exemption board has asked that a detail of soldiers be sent from Camp Dodge to act as escort.
