GROTEWOLD, TOBIASON, DUCHAINE, ANDERSON, HOLM, CLARK, PAULSON

LARCHWOOD, IOWA — William Grotewold, 89, early day Lyon county farmer near Larchwood, died last Thursday night at an Onawa, Iowa, hospital after a long illness.

Brief funeral services were held Monday at the Hilts Funeral home of Sloan. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock at Grandview Covenant church, Granite. Rev. Goebel officiated, assisted by Rev. Ralph Powell. Burial was in the Larchwood cemetery.

Mr. Grotewold was a longtime prominent Lyon county farmer. He was a trustee of Sioux township for a number of years. He retired from farming several years after the death of his wife, Marie, August 12, 1931. For the last four years he made his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Duchaine, at Sloan.

Mr. Grotewold was born February 23, 1865, in Fayette county, Iowa. He married Marie Tobiason January 6, 1891.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Duchaine include four other daughters, Mrs. R. J. Anderson of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Ben Holm of Long Beach, California, Mrs. M. M. Clark of Sioux City and Mrs. R. C. Paulson of Downey, California, and two sons, Walter of Frankfort, Iowa, and Laurence of Larchwood.
