Charlotte Mae (Murphy) Bontje – February 16, 1928 – December 2, 2007

Charlotte M. Bontje, 79, passed away, Sunday, December 2, 2007 at McKennan Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD.

Charlotte M. Murphy, daughter of James and Genevieve (Kleespies) Murphy, was born February 16, 1928 in Doon, IA. Charlotte spent her childhood in Doon and later moved to Larchwood, IA in 1944. She then graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1945. Following her graduation she lived at home and worked for the John Morrell Company.

On June 11, 1955 Charlotte married Tony Bontje in Larchwood, IA. The couple made their home in Larchwood until 1971 when they moved to Sioux Falls. In her later years, Charlotte worked for National Bank of South Dakota until she retired in 1991.

Charlotte was a deeply religious person who devoted her life to God and raising her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Steve Bontje and his wife, Debbie, Pierre, SD, Elaine Quinn and her husband, Mike, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Jeanine Draper and her husband, Don, Anaheim, CA, and Mike Bontje, Sioux Falls; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tony.
