Alvord, Iowa - Therese Langfeldt, 82, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Alvord. Burial at Alvord Cemetery. Father Doug Klein will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday with the family present 2-4 pm and Prayer Service 3:30 pm Sunday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.
Therese, daughter of Emiel and Helena (Roemen) Schuttloffel, was born February 21, 1927 on the homestead near Larchwood, IA. She married Freddie Langfeldt on May 24, 1951 at Larchwood. Together they lived near Alvord. Therese was a clerk at Bruggeman Drug Store and then was bookkeeper at First Federal Bank at Rock Rapids, Iowa, before working at Valley Veterinary Clinic at Rock Valley for over 25 years. Therese also enjoyed making wedding cakes, being a 4-H leader many years, playing cards, crocheting, family genealogy, and was active in their churches.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Freddie; son, Gary (Sandy) Langfeldt of Black Hawk, South Dakota; three daughters: Joan Larson of Dellwood, Minnesota, Bonnie (Frank Lehman) Pullen-Lehman of Spencer, Iowa, and Brenda (Keith) Kutz of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Edward (Mary) Schuttloffel of El Granada, Calif., Cletus (Carol) Schuttloffel of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Ronald (Henny) Schuttloffel of Rock Valley; two sisters, Dorothy (Joe) Turmes of Boise, Idaho and Shirley (Ray) Swanson of Shakopee, Minnesota.
Therese was preceded in death by her brother, John Schuttloffel; sisters, Rose Marie Schuttloffel and Anita King; son-in-law, Ronald Pullen; granddaughter, Zoe Lynn Langfeldt.
