Obituary:

Inwood, Iowa - John Johnson, 68, went home to be with his heavenly father Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

John Horace Johnson Jr. was born July 25, 1939 to John Horace Sr and Jemima (Rorem) Johnson in Doon, Iowa. John graduated from Inwood High School and attended Morningside College where he earned a Bachelors Degree. He entered the United States Army where he served his country for 3 years. John moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1968 where he managed a Department Store. He was united in marriage to Karen Loan on March 23, 1971 in Chicago.

In 1981 the couple moved to Inwood where John worked for the U.S. Postal Service and also began farming. John filled in as Lay Pastor at Bethel United Methodist Church from time to time. He enjoyed reading, bowling and was a toastmaster. John especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of Inwood; two sons, Dave (Amy) Johnson of North Liberty, Iowa, Eric Johnson of Inwood; two grandsons: Maddux and Brenden Johnson; brother, Doug (Judy) Johnson of Manson, Iowa; sister, Jennifer (Roger) Lorenzen of Hornick, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
