Inwood, Iowa -- Florence DeVaul, 92, of Inwood, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Fellowship Village, Inwood. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Lay Pastor Steven Swenson will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present 7-8:30 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood.

Florence Anne Coyer was born September 1, 1914 southwest of Inwood in Sioux County, Iowa, daughter of Otto and Margaret (Tuynman) Coyer. She taught country school in Sioux County for eight years. She attended Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY on a piano scholarship.

Florence married Harold DeVaul on September 15, 1940 at Bethel Methodist Church at Inwood. In 1945 she worked at an aircraft factory at Davis-Monthon Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Together they moved back to Inwood where Florence helped do the bookwork for their Standard Oil delivery service. Florence was also Inwood Library's Librarian for 18 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Pianist at Church and Sunday School Teacher. Florence was a member of the United Methodist Church Women, American Legion Auxiliary and the Lyon County Historical Society. She enjoyed birding, traveling, was an avid reader and loved watching the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins. Florence moved to the Fellowship Village on November 14, 2000. Harold died December 26, 2006.

Florence was survived by two daughters, Rita DeVaul of Denver, CO, Linda Renae (Steve) DeVaul Carr of Alexandria, VA; grandson, Alex Carr; sister-in-law, Margie DeVaul of San Fidel, New Mexico; many nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brother, Ernest Coyer; sisters, Mildred Gilbertson and Lorraine Porter.
