MARTHA “MARNEY” MARTENS, 83, of George, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at her home.

Born Jan. 19, 1924, in George, she was the daughter of Claus and Severdena Stomberg Martens.

She attended and graduated from George High School in 1941. She took care of her parents until their death. She worked as a cook at George Public School and later as an aide at the Ellsworth Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was an active member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, where she attended Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Group.

Surviving is one sister, Vera Arends, Ellsworth.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Roste Funeral Home, George.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George.
