Dirkea “Dora” Elisabeth (Freese) DeBoer – June 18, 1870 – December 3, 1948

RITES FOR MRS. J. DEBOER HELD TUESDAY
SERVICES HELD AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH; HEART DISEASE CAUSES DEATH

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church northeast of George on Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs. Jacob Deboer, who died suddenly on Friday of last week. Rev. J. J. Reems was assisted by Rev. J. J. Jordan in the services, which were in charge of Rev. H. Pfeifer. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Dora Deboer, daughter of Cornelius and Grace Freese, as born on February 18, 1870, at Petgum Estfriessen, Germany. At the age of 2 years she migrated with her parents to this country.

On April 12, 1890, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jake DeBoer at Grundy Center, Iowa, where they resided for two years, after which they moved to Lyon County, in the vicinity of George and Little Rock. Here they were engaged in farming until 1929, when they retired to their home north of the First Baptist Church. Since 1914 they have resided in the city of George.

Mrs. DeBoer was a member of the First Baptist Church of George. She was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Society for many years.

On the morning of December 3, 1948, Mrs. Deboer died suddenly. She had not been in the best of health for several years. A complicated heart disease caused her death.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her grief stricken husband and six children: John of Grundy Center, Iowa; Grace (Mrs. M. P. Kruger); Cornelius; Tom; Henry; Jane (Mrs. C. Klinkenborg) all of Rock Rapids; and Russel Simdorn of Little Rock; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister; Mrs. L. F. Pennington of Wenatchee, Washington; 3 brothers; John of Pipestone, Minnesota; Henrick of Fern, Iowa; Nick of Dike, Iowa; and many friends.
