Henry Berentschot – October 23, 1921 – August 19, 2003

Inwood, Iowa - Henry Berentschot, 81, of Inwood died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Fellowship Village. Services were Friday at Christian Reformed Church, Inwood, with interment in Richland Cemetery.

Mr. Berentschot was born October 23, 1921, in Halle, Netherlands, the son of Evert Jan and Hendrika (Westerveld) Berentschot. After attending a farming trade school, he worked at an elevator in the Netherlands.

On December 11, 1947, he married Christina Van Dyk in Leersum, Netherlands. They came to the United States in 1949, settling in Maurice where he worked as a hired hand for area farmers three years. They then began farming near Sioux Center. In 1960, they moved to northwest of Inwood where they farmed until 1975 when they moved into Inwood.

He ran a poultry business until retiring in 1994. At Inwood Christian Reformed Church, he served as a deacon and elder and was a member of the Men's Society.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Erv, Harley and Brian, all of Inwood, and LeRoy of Rock Valley; four daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Hennie) Serck, Mrs. Chris (Kel) Faber and Mrs. Roger (Gracia) Bootsma, all of lnwood, and Mrs. Dennis (Willie) Wrede of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerrit of the Netherlands, and one sister, Tina Rougoor of the Netherlands. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Johan and Jan, and one grandchild, Cherish Faber.
