James Starr, 69, of George died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Starr was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Delmont, S.D., the son of Harry and Anna (Wieland) Starr. He grew up in Delmont and George, graduating from George High School. He attended Sioux Empire Community College, Hawarden, and served in the army from 1952-54.

On June 2, 1954, he married Janice Kruse. He served in the air force from 1956-76. After 23 years in the armed services, they retired to George where he worked for Sudenga Industries 20 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas of George and Tye of Holland, Mich.; two daughters, Susan Reinders of Sioux City and Mrs. James (Kayleen) Bathke of George; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Keith and George, and three sisters, Mary Bock, Marilyn Wienheimer and Carolee Cuperus.
