John Snuttjer age 84 of George, IA died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at his home in George.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George with Pastor Bryan Anderson, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George.

John Harold Snuttjer was born March 2, 1927, on a farm near George, IA, the son of Etta Klaus (Van Westen) and Harm J. Snuttjer. John grew up on the farm and attended Liberal #8 country school west of George. On September 6, 1946, John was united in marriage to Margaret Mae Hass at the Minnesota state line. The couple made their home on a farm at George. John enjoyed farming and worked his land until he retired.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather. He was sincere about his faith and enjoyed attending services at the Tabernacle Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and also listening to Billy Graham. He spent his spare time fishing, working in his workshop and enjoying Lake Okoboji. John was very mechanical and he fixed, created, and manufactured many helpful farm related items. This past Tuesday, February 7, 2012, John died unexpectedly at his home in George at the age of eighty-four.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret of George, IA; four children: Larry (Shirley) Snuttjer of Sioux Falls, SD; Jean (Larry) DeClercq of Sioux Falls, SD; Randy (Denise) Snuttjer of Bennett, CO and Lori (Tim) Eiesland of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren: Kristin (Dana) Brown, Karmin DeClercq (Tom McDonald), Ann Snuttjer, Mark Snuttjer, Adrienne (Kerry) Roberts, Jason Dailey (April Waisenen), Mike Snuttjer and Olivia Eiesland; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Hilda (Harvey) Hilbrands of George.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Etta and Harm.
