Melva Ahders, 72, of Inwood, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday January 21 at Porter Funeral Home, 102 South Main, Inwood, Iowa. Her cremains will be buried at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Melva Jean Ahders was born September 9, 1939 at Inwood, Iowa, daughter of Alfred and Leona (Hagedorn) Ahders. Melva graduated from the Inwood High School in 1957 and then attended Nettleton College at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was the secretary at Inwood Public School and later at the West Lyon Public School. She enjoyed various handicrafts and pets. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred, in 1987, and her mother, Leona in 2004.

She is survived by her sister, Judy (James) Tausz of Clarion, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jerrad (Nicole) Tausz, Jodi (Andy) Darrohn, Jamie Jo (Mike) Ravensborg; grand nieces and nephews.
