End Came Quickly

Lew Berger, a young man who has been employed by D. W. McCarty for several years, died at his room in the J. J. Randall home last night about one o'clock after a brief illness of meningitis complicated with pneumonia.

The remains will be taken to Holstein, Iowa, tomorrow and the funeral will be held at the home of the parents Saturday. Mr. Berger had been troubled with a severe cold for several days, but had been about his work as usual up to Monday evening. Saturday night he attended a dance given by the Sons of Herman at Unity hall and remained until a late hour, enjoying himself as only one can who is fond of dancing.

When he left the hall he was quite warm, and it was presumed that he contracted an additional cold. Monday he was feeling very badly but did not go to his room until about 11 o'clock in the evening and Tuesday morning was very sick. A physician was called and everything possible done to save his life, but without avail. The deceased was well known among the young people here and had many friends, who are greatly shocked at his sudden taking off.
