Obituary: Fern L. Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa. Funeral will be Monday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, rural Inwood. Visitation with family present will be Sunday, June 3, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.

Fern Lucille Anderson was born September 27, 1918 on the homestead NW of Inwood, Iowa to Tobias and Anna Odena (Skotheien) Anderson. She attended country school.

Fern worked at the Stewart Warner Radio Plant in Chicago, Illinois during World War II. She later did domestic work in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and also worked at the Children’s Home Society. She then worked at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska before returning to Inwood. She was a lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Fern, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Fellowship Village in Inwood.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings and their spouses; Oliver, Melvin (Oneva), Simon (Murrell), Lloyd, Annie, Dorothy and Ovidia Anderson; Irene (Thor) Dahlberg, LaVaune (Chris) Christensen, and her niece, Nancy Anderson.

Fern is survived by her nephews and nieces; Tamlin (Judy) Anderson of Maple Valley, WA; Shirley Gaffney of Sioux Falls, SD; Deanna Serck of Sioux Falls; Marlys (Homer) Hastings of New Castle, WY; LeRoy (Joan) Anderson of Cherry Valley, IL; and Alan (Kathleen) Christensen of Papillion, NE.
