ELMER JAGER
Elmer Jager, the son of Eilt and Anna (Slight) Jager was born September 26, 1921 on a farm near Little Rock, Iowa. He received his education in George, Iowa and graduated from the George High School. Elmer was united in marriage to Luella Kanengieter on September 25, 1943 in her parents’ home in Little Rock.

The couple made their home near George before Elmer was called to serve his country during World War II in the Philippines. After the service he returned to the George area to farm. In 1959, they moved to a farm east of Ritter, Iowa where he farmed until moving into Sheldon in the mid 1980’s. In June of 2011, they moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon.

Elmer passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Sanford Sheldon Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 90 years and 2 days.

He was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa and of the Sheldon V.F.W. Bunker-Peterson Post #7354. He enjoyed being a farmer and working his land, he also enjoyed wintering in Texas for the past 20 years.
Elmer leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years, Luella of Sheldon; their 3 sons and their spouses, Edgar and Shirley Jager of Sheldon; Gary and Glenda Jager of George; Robert and Peggy Jager of Ashton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Jager of Staten Island, New York; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger; and his parents.
