Thelma Shanklin, 86, of George died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at George Good Samaritan Center.

Services were Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Thelma Handy was born April 8, 1917, in Clifton Forge, Va., where she grew up and attended school.

On April 7, 1951, she married John Shanklin at Greenville, Va. They resided in Clifton Forge, Helena, Mo., Arcata, Calif., and Douglas, Ariz.
Her husband died in 1963. She later lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and Durango, Colo., until moving to George in 2002.

Survivors include one son, two daughters including Mrs. Charles (Marcia) Christensen of George, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
