Lawrence Berkland, 96, or Sioux Falls, S.D., died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls,

Services were Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Berkland was born April 24, 1901, in Klondike, the son of Jacob and Oline (Skotheien) Berkland. He attended country school and worked on the family farm until his retirement. He also raised polled Hereford cattle. He moved to Canton, S.D., in 1900 and entered Good Samaritan Village in 1994.

Survivors include two sisters, Florence Berkland of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Trygve (Eunice) Vegge of Luverne, Minn.
