Funeral services for Marvin Berkland, 72, of rural Inwood were held this morning (Wednesday) at Our Savior’s Lutheran church, rural Inwood with Rev. Arno Frerichs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home.

He died Sunday, March 25, at the Luverne, Minn. Hospital.

Marvin Berkland was born July 3, 1911, in rural Inwood. He attended rural Inwood schools and graduated from the Canton, S.D. high school in 1931.

He worked for John Morrell & Co. in Sioux Falls, S.D., before entering the army in September 1942. In February 1946 he returned to work at Morrell, later farming on the family farm at Inwood.

Survivors include a brother, Lawrence, rural Inwood, and four sisters, Geneva Roti, Alice Berkland and Florence Berkland, all of Canton, and Eunice Vegge, Luverne, Minn.
