(July 29, 1966 - November 5, 2011)

Julie Ann Meeks, age 45 of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, November 5th, 2011 as the result of an auto accident near Larchwood, Iowa.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, Nov. 11th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Julie Ann Meeks (Phelps) daughter of James and Barbara Phelps was born July 29, 1966 in Watertown, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm near South Shore, South Dakota and attended grade school there through the 6th grade. She finished her grade school at the Zion Lutheran Day School in Mobridge, South Dakota. Julie attended Martin Luther Preparatory School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and graduated from the Mobridge High School in 1983. She attended Northern State University graduating Cum Laude in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She worked as the director of admissions at the Martin Luther Memorial Home in South Haven, Michigan, transferring to the Martin Luther Home in Saginaw, Michigan until she moved to Rock Rapids in 2005. Since living in Rock Rapids Julie worked at the Sanford (Merrill Pioneer) Hospital and for Hope Haven. At the time of her death she was working for Sanford and the Rock Rapids Health Centre.

Julie was united in marriage with Brian Schwartze in 1987 and two sons were born to this marriage. She married William Meeks in 2001. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, Peace Ladies Aid and Daughters of Peace.

Julie is survived by her two sons, Adam Schwartze and Christopher Schwartze and wife Ashley; her parents, James and Barbara Phelps and one sister, Tracie Jensen, all of Rock Rapids; and one brother, James and wife Tracie of Tea, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
