Ruby Dietz, age 87 of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of George, IA died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Edgewood Vista Care Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 26th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. LeRoy Boender officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, April 25th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Ruth "Ruby" Dietz was born September 19, 1923 in Adrian, Minnesota, the daughter of Andrew and Minnie "Sprock" Kruse. She was raised on family farm near Adrian and attended country school. After the loss of her mother at an early age she stayed with her family helping with the day to day operation of the farm.

On December 4, 1947 Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond E. "Bud" Dietz. They settled on the same farm Ruby grew up on and ran a dairy until their retirement in the late 80’s. She then began working at Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, MN in the laundry department. She attended Bethel Reformed Church near Ellsworth, MN. Ruby and Bud enjoyed playing billiards and bowling league. In May of 2000 they moved to George, IA. On October 24, 2000 Ruby’s husband, Raymond died after 52 years of marriage.

In May of 2008 Ruby moved to Primrose Retirement Community is Sioux Falls, SD. In September of 2009 she entered Edgewood Vista, were she remained until this past Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Ruby’s grandchildren will remember "Grandma’s pancakes" and her delicious Turtles during the Christmas season
.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheri and her husband, Marty Wessels of Chancellor, SD and Debbie Dietz of Folsom, CA; two grandchildren, Stacy Hernandez and Greg and his wife, Robyn Wessels; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Minnie Kruse; husband, Raymond Dietz; and three sisters, Esther Asche, Sena Kruse and Marge Stenzel.
