He was born April 26, 1918 in Lyon County Iowa. He married Hilda Schoellerman on September 6, 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They farmed in several areas such as Larchwood, Iowa; Fairview, Centerville, Wakonda, Toronto, and Flandreau. In 1982, they moved to Canton. He then worked for the Lincoln County Soil District and the Canton Sales Barn.

Survivors include his wife Hilda; five sons: Palmer L., Canton; Harold, Canistota; Paul,
Parkhill, Okla; Donald, Oceano, Calif.; and David, Sioux Falls; four daughters: Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Hobbs, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Lee (Judy) Hanson, Sherman; Mrs. Darwood (Betty) Sandberg, Wilmar, MN; and Mrs. Richard (Delores) James, Hartford; 19 grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his father, Carl Ericksen, Canton; a brother Palmer, Garretson; and a sister, Mrs. Dave Morgan of Indiana.
