ROCK RAPIDS—Marjorie Ethel Ripley, 85, Rock Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 12, at Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Rock Rapids.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery, under the direction of Bolin Funeral Home in George. Family visitation will be noon until time of service at the church.

Marjorie Ripley, daughter of Nicholas and Frances (Leinen) Wallrich, was born July 12, 1923, in Gilman Township in Osceola County near Ashton. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ashton in 1940. She continued her education and graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis in 1942. She was employed as a medical and X-ray technologist 1942-45 at Hoiston Valley Community Hospital in Kingsport, TN. She worked 1945-49 at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. She work 1959-84 for Dr. J.G. Lavender in George.

She married Francis Ripley on July 7, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.

She was a member of the Guild at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton. She has belonged to a Neighborhood Birthday Club since 1950. She loved to garden when possible, travel, watch television, visit with friends, spend time with her grandchildren and play cards.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Ripley of Bay City WI, and David Ripley of George; two grandsons; and a sister, Alice Hollingsworth of Lake Crystal, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Ripley; a son, Bryce Ripley; two brothers, Harold Walirich and Gilbert Wallrich; and two sisters, Bernadine Deegan and Mildren Gibson.
