Kruger, Dorothy V.

Funeral services for Dorothy V. Kruger, 90, of Sibley, were held on Tuesday, May 27, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley with Rev. William and Sue Flemr officiating. Burial was at the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. The Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy (Visker) Kruger was born on July 2, 1912, in Little Rock, the daughter of Eltjo and Kate (Dilly) Visker. Afterward she moved with her parents to White, South Dakota.

On December 7, 1932, she married George Kruger. The couple moved with Dorothy’s parents to Tracy, Minnesota, and from there to a farm outside of Allendorf, Iowa. They then moved to Currie, Minnesota, where they farmed for three years before moving to Sibley, where George worked for the Osceola County Hiway Dept. and Dorothy worked for Campbell’s Soup Company in Worthington, Minnesota.

George died on August 1, 1958, and Dorothy moved to a farm by her daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Gilbert Blochowitz. She remained working at Campbell’s until retiring at the age of 65 in 1977, and moved into Sibley. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. She is remembered for baking cookies and pies, embroidering dish towels, taking many pictures, and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Dorothy died on May 23, 2003, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Dorothy is survived by two sons; George (Carolyn) Kruger of Spencer, IA, Butch (Barb) Kruger of Fulda, MN; one daughter, Margie (Gib) Blochowitz of Bigelow, MN; seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren; three brothers, John Visker, JD Visker, both of Tracy, MN, Joe Visker of Danville, IN; two sisters, Jennie Haney and Tena Quigley, both of Tracy, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eltjo and Kate Visker; her husband George; one grandson, Michael John Kruger; one great grandson, Jason David Bryngelson; one brother, Hank Visker, and three sisters, Grace DeBlieck, Marie Smith and Fannie Quigley.
