Harry Wortman, 64, resident of this community for many years died at his home in George on Thanksgiving morning, suffering from a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Wortman home and from the Lyon County First Presbyterian church, with Rev. M. Brower officiating, and assisted by Rev. Harm Johnson. Interment was made in evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Wortman was born on March 8, 1886, at Fosterburg, Ill. He was the eldest child of three in the family, of John, and Reka Wortman, At the age of two he moved, with his family, to the vicinity of Lakota, Iowa. After a few years, they moved to the present farm which is now occupied by his brother, Walter.

On March 8, 1911, he was united in marriage to Anna Brunsma, and moved to the town of George, where he was employed for seven years in the Farmer’s Lumber Company.

To this union were born four children.
In 1918 the family moved to a farm three and one-half miles southeast of George, which is now occupied by his son Harold. In 1939, the family moved again to the town of George where he resided with his wife until death.

In Geroge, he was engaged in buying livestock until September 12, when ill health forced him to discontinue his business.
He was a member of the Lyon County First Presbyterian church in which he took great pride in the beautifying the church cemetery.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, two sons,. Harold and Wilfred, one daughter, Gladys, Mrs. Elmore Geerdes and one brother, Walter all of George. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
His parents, his only sister, Frieda. Mrs. Harold Donakes of Des. Moines, and an infant son preceded him in death.

Mr. Wortman was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends of this community.
