Richard Hansmann, age 75, of Harris, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be Monday, December 27, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, Iowa. Rev. Tony Metz officiating.
Private Burial in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.

Richard Hansmann was born on January 31, 1935, in rural George, Iowa, on the family farm. He was the son of Ludwig and Minnie (Althaus) Hansmann. He was baptized in 1935 and confirmed in his faith on April 10, 1949. He lived his youth in rural George, where he attended country schools. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963 and was honorably discharged. He received his GED while he was in the service.

Richard was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, Iowa. He had the assurance that the Lord was his Shepherd and Heaven would be his eternal home.

Richard’s joy in life was farming. He enjoyed walking in the fields and watching the growth of the crops. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

He passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sister: Louise Hansmann of Harris, IA; his brother and sister-in-law: Frederick and Ruth Hansmann of Lake Park, IA; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four step brothers.
