Gladys DeBruin, 79, of Rock Rapids died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., following a brief illness.

Services were Saturday at First Reformed Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in
Bethel Reformed Cemetery, Ellsworth, Minn.

Gladys Harms was born Nov. 16, 1915, at Little Rock. She moved with her family to different farms near Little Rock, Park Rapids, Minn., Ellsworth, Minn., Granite and Valley Springs, S.D. From Valley Springs, she moved with her father to Rock Rapids.

On Jan. 16, 1953, she married Arie DeBruin at Rock Rapids. They lived in Rock Rapids where she did ironing for other families and did cleaning for businesses. She also worked at the bakery and Tony’s IGA in Rock Rapids.

Her husband died Sept. 3, 1983. She continued living her her own home until her death. She was a member of the First Reformed Church and Golden Age Club in Rock Rapids.

Survivors include a niece, nephew and one sister-in-law, Alice Van Hill of Rock Rapids.
