LaVaune Christensen, 81, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Canton-Inwood Hospital, Canton, S.D.

Memorial services were Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, with internment in Richland Cemetery.

LaVaune Anderson was born July 20, 1921, in Inwood, the daughter of Tobias and Anna (Skotheien) Anderson. She grew up and attended country school near Inwood. After graduating from high school, she obtained her LPN degree.
In 1947, she married Chris Christensen in Inwood. They moved to Omaha, Neb., where she worked in the neonatal ICU at Children's Hospital.
Her husband died May 6, 1988.

Survivors include one son, Alan of Omaha; two grandsons; one brother, Lloyd of Inwood, and two sisters, Ovidia Anderson and Fern Anderson, both of Inwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Melvin, Simon and Oliver, and three sisters, Irene Dahlberg, Dorothy Anderson and Annie Anderson.
