Jemima Johnson, 85, of Inwood died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Canton-Inwood Hospital, Canton, S.D.

Services were Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood, with interment in Richland Cemetery.

Jemima Rorem was born March 18, 1918, near Inwood, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Monen) Rorem. She grew up and attended school near Inwood. After graduating from Inwood High School, she attended Iowa State University and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught school in the Inwood area two years.

On June 11, 1938, she married Horace Johnson in Nashua. They farmed east of Inwood 65 years. She also operated a boutique in her home from 1958-1972.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church's Women's Society of Christian Service.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of Inwood and Doug of Manson; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Jennifer) Lorenzen of Hornick; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Bertina Duimstra of Inwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence and Ole, and three sisters, Jean Gisselbeck, Alma Rotwold and Lenora Abbott.
