Mary Jane Dugan, 81, of Algona died April 23, 2003, at Algona Manor Care Center.

Services were April 26 at First Presbyterian Church, Algona, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Mary Winch was born Aug. 2, 1921, in George, the daughter of George and Pearl (Chadwick) Winch. She grew up in George and graduated from George High School. She obtained her teaching certificate at Morningside College, Sioux City. She taught awhile before returning to Drake University where she earned bachelor and master degrees. She taught 32 years in several locations including at Grant Consolidated and Rock Rapids.
On June 7, 1949, she married Wayne Dugan in George. She taught her last 19 years in Burt.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Wayne of Sayner, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Nancy Ann) McQuaid of Plymouth, Minn., and one sister, Pauline Mattingly of Pine Top, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
