A.J. Rutter, a well known resident of Pipestone for 27 years, a veteran of the civial war and active member of the G.A.R., breathed his last about one o'clock yesterday afternoon(Sept. 15,1910) at his home. Mr. Rutter had been in poor health for many years, in fact, he had not been in rugged condition at any time since undergoing the hardships of three years army service, from '62 to '65. His death was due to asthma and heart trouble.

A funeral service will be held at the home in this city on Saturday Sept. 17th at 12:15 p.m. after which the remains will be taken on the Rock Island train to Rock Rapids, IA for interment in the family lot in the cemetery of that place, three children of the late deceased being buried there.

The deceased is survived by this wife and nine children. He is survived by his wife Mary e. Finch, 5 daughters, Mrs. Alice McLean, Mrs Dora McCall, Mrs. Louisa McFarren, and Mrs. Flora Landry and Miss Leona Rutter. The four sons are: Adelbert E. ( my grandfather), William E., P. Earl and Guy A.

He married Mary E. Finch at Hopkinton, IA on August 15, 1862. Mr. Rutter was a charter member of the G.A.R. Post ofg Rock Rapids, IA.
