Katheryn Zylstra, 92, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services were Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, with interment in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Katheryn Peters was born April 7, 1910, near Little Rock, the daughter of Harm and Magretha (Voss) Peters. She attended rural school and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1927. After her education, she and her brother farmed their mother's farm and she worked part-time in a general merchandise store.

On Jan. 23, 1930, she married Sam Zylstra. They continued to work on the farm. In 1934, they moved to a farm west of Little Rock, where they lived for 15 years. Then they built new farm buildings northwest of Little Rock, finishing in 1948.

Her husband died in July 1962. She lived on the farm until 1971 when she moved into Little Rock.

At First Presbyterian Church she served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent 25 years, a summer camp counselor seven years, the first woman elder and clerk of sessions. She also helped organize Vacation Bible School, the cradle roll script and was a board member of Senior Sunrise Apartments. She was a member of Ladies Aid Society, Happy Hour Society, Esther Circle and the Women's Association.

Survivors include one son, Leland of Alta, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Emerson "Whitey" (Gloria) Russman and Mrs. Edward (Glenda) DeBoer, both of Luverne, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
