Emma Hanson, 105, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Fellowship Village, Inwood.

Services were Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood, with interment in Richland Cemetery.

Emma Helder was born Dec. 23, 1897, in Fairview, S.D., the daughter of Albert and Eva (Korder) Helder. She attended country school in Sioux County through eighth grade and Iowa State College two years.

On July 25, 1918, she married Arthur Hanson. They lived southwest of Inwood. While her husband served in the Iowa House of Representatives several years, she accompanied him, took craft classes and then taught those classes to local women.

Her husband died in 1966. She moved into Inwood in 1980 and to Fellowship Village in 1998.

She was a member of the legislative ladies organization; was active in Bethel United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Club, Priscillas and Bridge Club and was a 4-H leader.

Survivors include two sons, Eldon and Marlo, both of Inwood; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Carol) Anderson of Canton, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Harland; four brothers and three sisters.
