Chr. Schubert Dies Suddenly
Had Been in Ill for Some Weeks; Underwent an Operation

Funeral services were held here yesterday for Christ Schubert, resident of Lyon county for 28 years, who passed away on Saturday of last week, September 13, following an operation in the Sibley hospital. Interment was made in Riverview cemetery following services in Immanuel Lutheran church in charge of Reb. E. H. Mueller.

Christ Schubert was born March 10, 1858 in Schleswig-Holstein,Germany. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Miss Magdalena Toft. In1885 they emigrated to America and settled at Durant, IA., where they lived until the year 1902, when they came to Lyon county. They farmed northwest of Rock Rapids until 1918, when they retired, moving to Rock Rapids. In July they lost their home by fire. The shock, the over exertion in trying to save the household goods, and gas and smoke from the fire effected Mr. Schubert's health. On August 13th, he was taken to the Hull hospital for treatment. After spending a week at the hospital, his health was somewhat improved, and was able to return home. But on September 10th, he had to re-enter the hospital, this time the hospital at Sibley. The next day he submitted to an operation for gall-bladder trouble. Being in a weakened condition, he never regained consciousness after the operation. He died quietly at noon on September 13th, at the age of 72 years, six months and three days.

He is survived and mourned by his bereaved wife and his children, Lawrence, at Rock Rapids, Christ at Lone Pine, Calif., Mrs. Emma McTauge at Highmore, S.D., John of Echo, Minn., and Willie of this city.
