Elra John Blumeyer, 83, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at his home.
Services were Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Blooming Prairie, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Blumeyer was born July 10, 1919, in George, the son of Heiko and Ella (Wieman) Blumeyer. He graduated from George High School in 1936 and from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. He taught in Tennant from 1940-42.

On Dec. 9, 1942, he married Beryl Rossow in George. He served in army from 1942-1945. He received his master's degree in school administration from Iowa State University in 1950. He served as school superintendent in Goldfield 16 years and at Garner-Hayfield 12 years. In 1973 he moved to Blooming Prairie to become district representative with Aid Association for Lutherans until retiring in 1984.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Bob (Barbara) Folkmann of Ames, Mrs. Bob (Beverly) Jass of Batavia, Ill., Mrs. Larry (Jean) Long of New Market, Md., Mrs. Don (Joan) Huston of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Randy (Amy) Roggenburg of Ankeny; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Albertus of Canby, Minn., and Russell of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
