Former Lyon Co. Auditor Berg Dies

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Dwaine Adolph Berg, 60, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1992, at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Mr. Berg was born on October 11, 1932, in Rock Rapids. In 1950, he was graduated from Lester High School in Lester, Iowa. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was discharged on December 21, 1954.

He married Delores Ockenga on June 5, 1955, in Rock Rapids. He was employed in various occupations. He was the Lyon County Auditor for over 10 years, and was most recently a self-employed carpenter. He was also the Veterans Affairs Director for Lyon County and a school bus driver.

He was a member of the VFW, and served as commander and was the Eighth District Quartermaster at the time of his death. He was also a member of the American Legion and was appointed Iowa VAVS Hospital State Representative. He was currently the Red Cross Director, Selective Service Director, and a member of the Rock Rapids Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Delores of Rock Rapids; two sons: Darman of Crystal, Minn., and David of Vermillion; one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Debra) Metzger of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; his parents, Adolph and Viola Berg of Rock Rapids; one brother, Harlan of Rock Rapids; and two sisters: Mrs. Wayne (Marlene) Camilli of Owatonna, Minn., and Mrs. Daryl (Carolyn) Bauer of Sioux Falls.

Services will begin at 10:30 am Friday at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 pm today at the Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, with the family being present from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Funeral services for Dwaine Berg, 60, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, were held December 4, 1992 at United Methodist Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

He died Tuesday, December 1, 1992 in the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
