James Albert Myers, the beloved son of David and Irene Myers, commenced his earthly journey January 6, 1867. The ship of life thus launched sailed bravely over life's billows until the eve of October 22, 1917, when the Great Master spoke, saying, "Well done, Jim. Step into the haven of rest."

His early years were spent on the fame near New Port in Jackson township, Jones county. His parents being pioneers, James was reared in the purity and simplicity of those days, a healthy and robust boy. On March 16, 1887, he chose as his life companion Eva Storry. Thirty years of happy life were theirs to enjoy together. To this union was born one son, Albert, who with the brave mother and wife ministered to his wants to the very end.

Loving care and sympathy were from his brothers, sisters and friends. In spite of all, death comes silently, ruthlessly. The Great Master bids one to lay down the burden and rest, and it is so. All must heed his call. But the dear memories left with us are much appreciated. As the dear husband waited so near the shore for the boatsman so near to bear him away on death's mysterious journey, he manifested a great interest in his soul's destination. He called for a minister of the gospel and requested those about him to sing and pray and assured them that all was well with his soul and that he was ready to go.

On the heartbroken wife and son, whose plans in life are so rudely shattered and on the lonely brothers and sisters, the tender sympathy of friends and neighbors are richly bestowed. But best of all is the divine assurance that by faith we may meet him in that better land.

He leaves to mourn his loss brothers and sisters as follows; Josiah Myers, Anamosa, Ia.; Samuel Myers, Glidden, Ia.; Mrs John Easterly, Olin, Ia.; William Myers, Anamosa, Ia.; Mrs Asher Smith, Clinton, Ia.; Mrs H.P. Martin, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Mrs. Sadie Norton, Olin, Ia.; John A. Myers, Los Angles, Calif.; Frank S. Myers, Martelle, Ia.; Mrs Conrad Hotz, Morley, Ia.; Mrs Hannah Jefferis, Cedar Rapids,Ia. Deceased brothers and sisters are David Myers, Irvin Myers and Mrs Kate Gilmore.

In 1893 he moved to Rock Rapids, Ia., and he leaves here a host of friends to mourn his demise.
